I was watching TV the other day and they were talking about how Dale Earnhardt, Jr., lost a race this weekend because he ran out of gas. (Yes, I do watch NASCAR on TV with the hubby sometimes.) The debate was about running out of gas and one of the guys talked about how he’s run out of gas in his car multiple times. There was nothing unusual about his car or his gas tank. He just ran out of gas while driving and had to push his car!
OK, so Jr. running out of gas is understandable. He was circling the track and decided to take a risk… attempt to win the race without making a pit stop to get a splash of gas. It’s a calculated risk in a controlled environment.
But I don’t get how you run out of gas multiple times. It’s one thing if you get stuck in a back up on the highway or something like that, but beyond that, I don’t understand. My car even beeps at me when it’s running low and a light comes on. And admitting it on national television makes you seem like a knuckle head.

I have run out of gas once or twice. The last time was on the expressway. That was too scary. I vowed never to run out of gas again. I haven’t

I am ashamed to say YES, I have run out of gas once. In my defense, we’d just bought our car and the gas gauge was broken. SO technically it wasn’t my fault. And I’m sticking w/ that.
