Hmm. Uh. Not good. On American Idol tonight, Kristy Lee Cook sang Eight Days a Week during the Beatles theme night. The problem was that she took advice from the judges and didn’t interpret it quite right. I guess they told her to stick with country, but rather than do country like Martina McBryde or Faith Hill, she did country like Hee Haw. It was very… unpleasant.
At first I tried comparing it to Blake Lewis singing Bon Jovi’s You Give Love a Bad Name, something different, taking a risk, etc. And then I really started listening to the song. It was like being at a square dance or a hoe down. I’m sure it will be on You Tube soon.
The better performances tonight were definitely Carly Smithson, David Cook, and Brooke White. Most everyone else fell apart.
