wikipedia popcorn
That little doggie of ours is smart. He recognizes popcorn popping in the microwave (versus other items just exploding in the oven). When he hears it, he insists on having some. Insists. He gets up on his hind legs and waits. If you don’t see him immediately, he changes locations and tries again. And again. And again.
Then he becomes “vocal” if you do not fulfill his popcorn needs. It starts with a short whine and progressively grows into multiple whines until we give in, which always happens.
Popcorn and french fries in the car while traveling are the two types of people food he insists on having. Yes, we indulge him to keep him from yelping too much. He’ll get a kernel or two from the popcorn and small bits of french fries. I know that potatoes give dogs gas. Hopefully popcorn is not bad for them.
Does your dog insist on particular people food? Or maybe your cat?

Vegas thinks that whatever you’re eating, he should be eating too. Of course, my vegetarian husband also cooks for the dog every night…he grills, he bakes, etc…all for the pooch. And on weekends, he gets breakfast, lunch, and dinner made to order. We have special “pet cookbooks” that have better stuff in them than our regular cookbooks! He does have regular food, but that’s his “bowl of last resort”

that’s the weirdest thing! growing up, our dog was partial to trix cereal. my little sis would pour a bowl for sasha and a bowl for herself.

The dog we had when I was growing up had a thing for popcorn, too, but she also loved ice cream. Most of the time, if she wanted our food, much like yours, she would sit, look at you, then start to whine until you fed her something to shut her up. But ice cream was different: she threw all politeness out the window and just insinuated herself between you and your dairy treat, helping herself to the frozen goodness. Being a large dog, that wasn’t difficult for her to do.
I remember driving back from a family vacation one summer and driving through McDonalds, where my dad purchased a McFlurry for each member of the family…even one for the dog. She was in heaven.

Popcorn is actually a good treat for dogs. From what I hear it’s a snack vets encourage actually (as long as it’s not laden with all sorts of butter and stuff). They actually sell popcorn specifically for dogs that I’ve gotten before at Walgreens, it’s specially flavored for dogs (with peanut butter and stuff). Our dogs love it!

Bees LOVES popcorn and she too sits RIGHT IN FRONT of the microwave. Good thing she’s got a fried brain already.
She also goes BONKERS for lettuce. The electric fence people were amazed that she was so crazy. I keep telling The Mister I’m going to turn his dog into a vegetarian.

My older cat has gotten into the habit of begging worse than a dog.
She eats pork, chicken, steak, chili, pasta, pasta sauce, cheese, salmon, tilapia, tuna, rice…she’s weird.
I did have a cat once that loved Wheat Thins.

kristen – Your hubby cooks for your dog? Wow. That’s K-9 Love (it’s a song by the Bacon Brothers). You should listen to it.
CWG – Silly, doggie. Trix are for kids!
megan – We’ve given our dog “Frosty Paws” dog ice cream. It’s so cold that I have to wear an oven mitt while holding it for him as he eats.
JP – So glad it’s not lethal for them…. Oooh, special dog popcorn. I might have to check that out.
Angela – Thank you for the confirmation. It makes me feel better.
Stephanie – Lettuce is a new one. That’s incredible.
Annie – Your cat and I like the same food!
